Mewtwo's Lair: Badges

"All right, then. Go, Gyarados!" I threw the Pokéball of my newest friend onto the ground.

"Against your Gyarados, I choose Onix," Flint threw a Pokéball, revealing a rock snake even larger than my Gyarados.

"Gyarados, use your Dragon Rage attack." Bluish flame leaped out of Gyarados's mouth and surrounded Onix. Onix looked a lot weaker, but it kept going.

"Onix, rock throw!" Onix slammed against the ground causing rocks to hit Gyarados.

"Oh, Gyarados!" I exclamed as the huge Pokémon fell down. "Get up, Gyarados, oh please be OK." I whispered. At first I thought it was over, but then Gyarados got up. "Gyarrra!" It cried as it spewed bluish fire all around Onix. But this time, the attack was so powerful that it created a huge vortex, whipping up giant boulders as easily as if they were pebbles. Of course Gyarados won. "All right, Gyarados!" I cried, giving it a hug. Flint gave me the Boulderbadge, and then I left and waited for Jake to finish. (They only allow 1 person at a time in the Pewter Gym.)

The next day (It was a Saturday) Jake and I were discussing where we should go next. He said Cloud Town, where we could compete for the Skyebadge, but I said Arachnid City, where we could compete for the Insectoidbadge. We finally agreed that we would go to Cloud Town first, then head over to Arachnid. Cloud Town was a good days ride away, so we started off. About noon, we arrived at a little village called TM Town. As we walked along the main street, we saw rows and rows of the main product made in TM town: TMs. They had shops that made Dragon TMs, shops that made fighting TMs, shops that made electric TMs, well, I think you get the idea. Suddenly, one of the shops started speweng clouds of black smoke and I heared a sinister laugh as a hot air balloon with two people and a Pokémon lifted off.

"Thats Team Rocket!" Jake pointed to the balloon.

"You got that right, kid! Prepare for disaster," Cathie started.

"Better do it faster," Danny continued. "To inflict the world with devastation,"
"To control all people in our nation,"
"To denounce the evils of friendship and fun,"
"To extend our reach to all thing under the sun,"
"Cathie,"
"Danny,"
"Team Rocket dives in at the speed of light,"
"Give up now, or we'll have to fight,"
"Persian, thats right!"

"Stop those thiefs!" the store owner ran out of his shop, coughing.

"You got it. Go, Gyarados," Gyarados was both a water and flying type Pokémon, so it could fly up and stop the balloon. I told it to do so. It grabbed the balloon in its teeth and broght the villans back down to the ground.

"Just because you deflated our balloon doesn't mean you'll stop us!" Cathie laughed. "Go, Grimer!"

"I choose you, Drowsee!" Danny added his Pokémon to the mix. "Drowsee, Hypnosis attack!" Drowsee began emitting sleep waves in the direction of Gyarados.

"You can fight it, Gyarados! Use your Dragon Rage!" Gyarados looked a little tired, but it spat out blue flame and once again created a swirling vortex around Drowsee, Grimer, and Team Rocket, sending them hurling into next week.

"Looks like Team Rocket's blasting off again!" They screamed.

"Gyarrra," Gyarados said as it picked up Team Rocket's balloon and brought the TMs back to the store owner.

"To thank you for saving my TMs, you can have one," The store owner said. I picked up one of the silvery balls with the number 13 on it. "Thats ice beam. You can teach it to any water or ice pokemon, and also a Nidoran if you have one." I decided to teach it to my Nidoran.

"All right! We're here!" We had finally arrived at Cloud Town at the top of Skye Mountain. "Return, Max," I returned Max to his Pokéball as we headed into the Pokécenter.

"Hi there," a familiar voice said as we entered.

"NURSE JOY!?!" Jake and I exclamed at the same time. "I thought you were in Cerulean City!"

"No, that was my cousin. My second cousin works in the Pewter City Pokécenter, but she was helping my sister in the Viridian City Pokécenter. In Arachnid City my sister-in-law works at the Pokécenter. At every Pokécenter on Pokéisland there is a Nurse Joy who looks like all the others."

"Wow! But I think you're the most beautiful of all," Jake was drooling again.

"C'mon, loverboy," I said as I dragged Jake into the boys bunk room, then I went to the girl's.

The next day, Jake and I found a place that sold excellent Pokéfood as well as a famous breakfast bar right next door. After everyone (that includes our Pokémon) ate, Jake and I headed down to the Cloud Gym to compete for the Skyebadge.

"Huh? Look at the rules posted above the door," Jake said. The rules stated that we would choose one of the doors inside and battle the trainer in it in order to get to the Gym leader, Windie. Jake went in the third door, and I went in the seventh.

"So, you want to challenge the great Windie, huh. First you'll have to beat me, the one and only Gusti," a young boy with wild blond hair held out a Pokéball in challenge. "One Pokémon each. Go, Golbat!" Gusti released a horrid-looking bat, but I knew how dangerous Golbat's poisin made it.

"All right, then. If thats the way you want it, go, Max!" I threw the Pokéball of my best friend onto the ground.

"Golbat, leech life!" Gusti's Golbat tried to bite Max's neck, but Max's thick fur protected it from harm.

"Max, take down!" Max shook the Golbat off, then charged at it, knocking it to the other end of the gym.

"Golbat!" Gusti exclamed.

"Finish it off with your flamethrower attack!" Max spat out fire, burning Golbat.

"Golbat, return! You win. You may proceed to the main arena." I returned Max to his Pokéball, then headed to the main gym.

"So, you wish to challenge me, the great Windie? Hahahaha! Kid, you're going to get roasted," A tall, thin girl with wild, blond hair stood at the opposite side of the gym. "My little brother explained the rules, correct? One Pokémon each.

"You got it. Go, Nidoran!" I threw Nidoran's special blue and purple pokeball.

"Go, Dodrio!" Windie threw a Pokéball revealing a three-headed flightless bird.

"Nidoran, horn attack!" Nidoran charged at Dodrio, trying to hit it with its poisinous horn, but Dodrio was too fast.

"Dodrio, drill peck!" Dodrio's three beaks started to spin rapidly.

"Nidoran, watch out!" I cried, but too late. Nidoran was thrown to my side of the gym. "Nidoran!" I was tempted to help it, but it got up by itself.

"Finish it off with your fury attack!" Dodrio rushed at Nidoran, repeatedly pecking it.

"Nidoran, Ice beam it!" I hoped desperately the TM I had been given worked. Nidoran opened his mouth, revealing a glowing white ball of energy. Bolts of frozen lightning headed toward Dodrio, but Dodrio was too fast, and instead a large patch of ground on the gym was frozen. Just then, I had a great idea. "Nidoran, freeze all of the floor," Nidoran ice beamed the entire gym floor. "Now ice beam Dodrio." Dodrio tried to run, but it couldn't get any traction on the slippery ice. It fell down right before Nidoran froze it. "All right Nidoran! You did it." I rushed out onto the ice to hug Nidoran, but I slipped and fell down, sliding into Nidoran. We both laughed. "Return, Nidoran."

"That was a great strategy. As proof of your victory, I present to you the Skyebadge." Windie shook my hand then presented me with a golden badge shaped like a pair of wings.

"Wowwie!" I said, holding up the badge.

"By the way, can you help me de-freeze the gym for my next opponent?" Windie asked. I sent out Arcanine and Windie sent out Charizard and they steamed the gym. I watched Jake's battle from the stands. He beat Windie's Pigeotto with his Geodude (he has a Geodude, Bulbasaur, Horsea, and an Eevee.)
