Mewtwo's Lair: Circus

After healing our Pokémon at the Cerulean Pokémon center, we headed out of town toward Pewter City. The rest of the day was uneventful, and we set up camp near the edge of a large clearing.

"Uhng. Jake, stop that music," I groaned to the tent next to mine as I woke up.

"I thought that was you," the tent murmured back. Slipping on my shoes and tying up my hair, I went outside to see who was making all the racket.

"Wow. It looks as if they must have set up during the night," I said, gazing at the three-ring circus right in front of me.

"I love the circus. Lets pack up then go see the shows and stuff," Jake and I grabbed our stuff, then went to the main enterance. We paid, then went to see the shows. As we passed, clowns of every sort, even Pokéclowns, danced around us. Some trainers were practicing with Rapidashes and Ponytas, while others were feeding wilder ones like Machoke. "Lets go see that show," Jake pointed to a water Pokémon show starring a trained Magikarp.

"Sounds great," I said. We entered the tent and waited for the show to start.

"Ladies and Germs. I am Cornelius the Great! Let me present to you my wonderfull trained Pokémon!" Cornelius cracked his whip and 5 Staryus began to do synchronized dives and stuff. Next, he did a magic act with a dissapearing Vaporeon. "And now, the star of my show, Magikarp!" Cornelius cracked his whip and a Magikarp appeared.

"That Magikarp looks sick," I told Jake. "Its much too small, and look how torn its fins look."

"Magikarp will now jump through this flaming hoop," Cornelius pointed to a flaming hoop high above the pool Magikarp was in. Magikarp swam to the bottom of the pool, then headed as fast as it could toward the surface. It broke the surface of the water and headed toward the hoop. Closer . . . closer . . . closer . . . it didn't make it. Instead, it's top fin caught on fire and it fell back into the pool. "Oh, well, Magikarp will just have to try it again," Cornelius cracked his whip, hitting the Magikarp. "Karp karp karp," it said as it struggled to the surface, and once again missed the hoop. Cornelius once agian whipped the Magikarp, and was preparing to do it agian, when I made a decision. I ran up and jumped in front of the whip right before it hit me. "What are you doing here, kid? Go home, brat, and stop messing up my show."

"After what you've done to this poor Magikarp? I dont think so. Its very sick and needs to see a doctor NOW."

"Its not sick. Its just fine," Cornelius argued.

"I grew up with Pokémon and I know that this Magikarp definately needs help. Its showing all the symptoms of a major Magikarp disease: labored breathing, pale scales, tattered fins, abnormall size, and tiredness." I diagnosed.

"And what might that disease be," Cornelius asked as I took the Magikarp out of the water.

"Abuse, Mr. Cornelius. You are overworking this Magikarp and underfeeding it. It could die within days if I dont do something about it." I said, carrying the Magikarp out of the tent.

"You cant do this! This is robbery. I'll report you to the athorities."

"That wont be nescesary, Mr.Cornelius. You see, my brother IS the athority on Pokémon. If you have a concern, take it up with him," I usually didnt use my family position like this, but this Magikarp desperately needed help. Cornelius started to reply, but decided against it. Jake followed me out of the tent. Mounting our bikes, the two of us rode quickly and silently back to Cerulean City. "Nurse Joy! Nurse Joy!" I called, running into the Pokécenter at top speed.

"Slow down, Amie. Whats wrong," Joy said, emerging from the treatment room.

"This Magikarp needs your help now!" I handed her the Magikarp.

"Oh dear. Chansey, follow me. Amie, with your extensive knowledge of Pokémon, I could use your help too." I followed Nurse Joy into the operation room. We began the operation immediately, working diligently on the Magikarp for hours. Dont ask me to describe it to you, because everything is sort of blurred. I put so much concentration on that Magikarp that afterwards I fell asleep instantly.

"The Magikarp's going to be all right," Jake woke me up with the good news. "You and Joy did a good job with it. Joy says we can go see it now." I had slept with my shoes on and my hair up, so we went directly to the reco
