*BZZZZ! BZZZZ!* My alarm clock was going off.

*Yawn* "Six AM. Why did I set it this early?" I asked my Arcanine, Max.

"Ar aurr Arooo" Max said which translated to [Because today you are old enough to start your own Pokémon journey.]

"Oh yeah!" I said as I bolted out of bed and got dressed in tennis shoes, socks, baggy fringed colorful tye-dyed capris, a bright orange T-shirt, and partially fingerless bright blue gloves. I then shoved some stuff in my backpack.

"C'mon. Bill's gonna let me pick a Pokémon!" I tied my wavy, bright green hair up in a ponytail and charged down the stairs two at a time.

"Oh, hi, Amie. I see my little sis is ready to pick her Pokémon. Get some breakfast and then I'll take you into the lab and let you choose." Bill said as I scrambled to get my breakfast. "Hey slow down, kid. They'll still be there," he commented as I wolfed down my Cocoa Puffs in record time.

"All done," I said, tossing my bowl in the sink.

[That was fast,] Max growled.

"C'mon," I said, practically dragging Bill into his lab.

"I have four here that I don't need to study anymore. They are all about level 10, so feel free to have your choice. I have a male Nidoran, a Pigey, an Oddish, and a Weedle."

"Hmm," I knew all four would become extremely strong: Nidoking, Pigeot, Vileplume, and Beedrill. But I had heard that Beedrills could be very ferocious, Pigeys and Pigeottos were practically useless, and that Vileplumes sprayed pollen all over. That left "The Nidoran," I said, pointing to it's special blue and purple Pokéball.

"Ok," Bill said, releasing it for me.

"Awww. Its adorable," I said, gazing into its questioning eyes.

"Here are your extra Pokéballs and Pokédex, as well a map of the towns where Gyms are," Bill handed them to me "Now scram, runt, and be sure to catch something!" he winked at me as I walked out of the lab, causing me to laugh.

"Aur rrr urr," Max whined as I got my mountain bike out of the garage.

"You want to go with me? Oh, all right." I never could say no to those puppy-dog eyes. With my Nidoran in his Pokéball and Max by my side, I headed out the door of our famous lighthouse towards my destiny as the worlds greatest Pokémon Master. Then I tripped over a rock and fell flat on my face.

"This looks like a good place to set up camp," I commented to Max as we neared a clearing. After pitching my tent, I told Max to go one way and I'd go the other way to look for firewood, instructing him to meet back here in ten minutes. I knew Arcanines had a great sense of time as well as direction. After tromping around for five minutes, I decided that me and my firewood that I had collected should tromp on back to the clearing. As I turned around, I noticed something in the bushes. "Who's there?" I asked cautiously and maybe a little nervously. "Hello. Anyone?" I was not liking this. Just then, a small, pink fuzzy thing popped out right in front of me. "Ah!" I cried, and fell backwards. "Wow. You scared me!" I apologized as I caught my breath. I had the strangest sense of DéJa Vu, so I took a closer look at the creature. It had a big head and long feet, small arms, and a long tail with a bulge at the end, and beautiful blue eyes. "I've never seen a Pokémon like you before." I reached for my Pokédex, then realized I had left it in my tent with the rest of my stuff. "What are you?" The Pokémon made a small mewing noise in response. "A MEW!" I said, mouth hanging open and eyes staring uncontrollably. It started to back away. "No, please dont go. I've just never seen a Mew before," I apologized. "Hey, would you like to come on my Pokémon journey with me?" The Mew cocked its head and stared at me. "All right. Go, Nidoran!" I said, throwing my Nidoran's special Pokéball

"Nido"

"You ready Mew? Nidoran, tackle attack now!" Nidoran charged at Mew, but Mew jumped away at the last minute. Mew then tried to punch my Nidoran, but Nidoran got inside the punch and tackled Mew. "All right Nidoran!" I said, then threw one of my empty Pokéballs at Mew. After a few seconds, the indicator light went out. "I caught my first Pokémon!" I yelled. "Nidoran, return. C'mon. Lets get back to camp." I picked up the firewood I had gathered and headed back towards the camp.

I woke up with Max licking my face. "All right I'm up! I said, then pulled on my shoes. I was going to go to Pewter City and compete for the Boulderbadge. I packed up camp and started towards the west, where I knew I would face a trial of strength and knowledge. I then noticed I was not the only one who had set up camp here.

"Hey there!" I called to the boy who was packing up, "I'm Amie. Who are you?"

"I'm Jake. Are you a Pokémon trainer too?"

"Yeah."

"You wouldn't happen to be Bill's little sis?"

"Thats me. I'm heading towards Pewter City for my first badge."

"Hey, me too. Lets travel together."

"Sounds great. C'mon. Lets go!" I said, tying up my hair in a ponytail. "Do you have a bike?"

Soon we were on our way to Pewter and our first badge. I found out Jake was from Lavender town and he had visited Bill right after I had left.
